This framed chalkboard was created for Chef Rochelle Daniel of the Fat Ox Restaurant in Scottsdale Arizona. The design was created on a computer program called Ai. Next a printable PDF vector file was made. Chalk It Up Signs digitally printed six “Chef” signs for the event and framed them.
The framing wood we use has been specifically chosen for a classic chalkboard look. It is clear west coast fir(no knots and not an inferior wood such as pine). This is a strong, stable wood that has exceptional durability for it’s weight. The corners are made with a mortise and tenon joint and high quality waterproof glue.
The fir ages beautifully to a mellow orange-brown. Hand rubbed coat of poly is applied for protection and to enhance the look of the wood. Fir excepts stain well and can be changed to almost any colour available.
