Chalkboard sign care and proper installation is important to keep your Chalk It Up Signs chalkboard looking great for years and years. Our chalkboards are made from a solid black polymer and will not wear out.
Cleaning your sealed chalkboard Sign
- Use a soft cloth and water to clean. Do not scrub hard.
- For light dirt and grease use “Simple Green” .
- If you have ghosting left by old chalk writing use diluted vinegar.
- If you have ghosting left by old chalk ink writing use an ammonia based cleaner like Windex.
- NEVER USE – steel wool, plastics scrubbers, sand paper or abrasive cleaners.
- NEVER USE – solvents, acid, acetone, or strong chemicals to clean your chalkboard.
Cleaning and care for un-sealed chalk art and text
• Do not touch text/artwork with hands. It will smear.
• dust very gently. Do not use pressure.
• water splatter/excessive moisture will dissolve and smear art and text
• to remove text or art images wipe with damp cloth
• chalk-markers & chalk work well on chalkboard
Installation, Mounting or Hanging your unframed Chalkboard Sign
- Measure twice and drill once.
- For unframed signs drill through chalkboard at least 1/2″ from edge.
- Use black headed drywall screws to match chalkboard color
- when drilling into drywall use a wall anchor
- Place one screw in each corner or every 30″- 40″ for larger chalkboard signs
- Use double sided vinyl flooring tape to hold down middle and edges on larger chalkboards
Installation Mounting or Hanging your framed Chalkboard Sign
- Measure twice drill once.
- Pre-drill all holes slightly smaller then hardware screws.
- Use eye screws, S hangers and chain to mount from ceiling.
- For wall mounting, drill right through frame slightly larger than screw diameter and use a domed screw for a “modern look”.
- For wall mounting, add hanger hardware to back into frame.
- handle large signs carefully and do not twist (this could crack a corner)
