Chalkboard Printing Specifications

This is what a finished printed chalkboard looks like printed on a black chalkboard. Because we don’t print the “black” on the board we need three files to create this.

Chalkboard printing is a great option for quantity, franchises, small text and customers with their design already created. Chalk It Up Signs can print directly to our chalkboards from client created files. This printing page link gives examples and cost.

Below are the specifications required for us to use your files. We include in our estimate 1/2 hour of time to adjust your files for printing. You may also choose to create the final chalkboard print files for us if you have the expertise and software. Let us know and we can guide you through that option.

Chalkboard printing Specifications:

All artwork must be in .ai or .eps file format
All artwork must be in vector format
All text must be outlined
All paths must be outlined
Please provide spot colours if necessary
We do not accept any placed images that are not vector

Complex Artwork:

Any complex vector artwork should not have overlapping colours, ie. all shapes must be punched out

Any complex vector artwork should be separated by colours into layers on the art board

Extra file help/work is charged out at $100/hour

Here is an example of the three files we require to print directly to a chalkboard. We can create them in our design studio from the files you supply or you can create them.

The pink or magenta file indicates the color white. We need to print white under everything on the chalkboards. The file file is everything else. Areas that are white get punched out so the white can show through. White gets printed first on the chalkboard.

The third file is a layered vector file of what the final chalkboard should look like. You can add a faux black layer to simulate the chalkboard or not. The important layers are the white layer and the colour layer with the correct fonts embedded.
